Saint Philomena
Little, indeed, is known historically of Saint Philomena. Her real history commences when her blessed remains were found after having rested in the obscurity of the Catacombs of St. Priscilla for some seventeen hundred years. But God is wonderful in His saints, and Saint Philomena strikingly exemplifies this oft-repeated truth. After allowing her name and memory to be buried with her earthly remains for centuries, He suddenly brought the attention of mankind to this little maiden-martyr, and now works astounding prodigies in her name, as if wishing to show that He wills in this way to recompense the long time He allowed her to remain in obscurity.
Venerable Pauline Jaricot
Venerable Pauline Marie Jaricot was the saintly foundress of the Association of the Propogation of the Faith and the Universal Living Rosary Association. Here we present some of the many virtues of her magnificent heart. These recordings are compiled by Patty Melvin, the director of the Living Rosary Associaton who has enlivened the work of Pauline Jaricot to encompass the whole world.
The Brown Scapular
When on the holy day of Pentecost, the apostles through divine inspiration spoke diverse tongues and worked many miracles through Jesus’ name it is said that many men saw and acknowledged the truth and at once embraced the faith of the Gospel. It is these men, before all others built a chapel to the purist of virgins on that very spot of Mt Carmel. Many times each day they came together at the new oratory to honor the most blessed virgin as the special protectress of their order.
The Holy Rosary
In his book The Secret of the Rosary St Luis De Montfort explains that the Holy Rosary is made up of two things mental prayer and vocal prayer. Mental prayer is made up of meditation on the chief mysteries of the life, death and glory of Jesus Christ and of the Blessed mother Mary. Vocal prayer consists of saying 15 decades of the Hail Mary, each decade headed by an Our Father while at the same time contemplating the 15 principle virtues, which Jesus and Mary practiced in the 15 mysteries of the Holy Rosary.
St Bernard of Clairvaux
St. Bernard of Clairvaux an austere monk, a great Christian orator and learned doctor. The liturgy of the church provides a most relevant tribute to this Holy defender of the faith.
